Nearly 20 years ago, Timothy Riesen, a designer, artist, and entrepreneur looking for a new adventure, was asked to prepare patent illustrations for the first time. He went to work after reading through the “United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Drawing Guide,” not fully appreciating what kind of journey he had embarked on. Throughout the years, he had the privilege to work on thousands of fascinating products, logos, and other amazing innovations. As a result, he became overwhelmed with appreciation for innovation and those who are creating and developing new and exciting things. His passion for innovation has taken many blows over the years after he became aware that many innovators and inventors were being taken advantage of and, through their ignorance, missed out on realizing their dreams. Timothy began to work with as many of these inventors as they had been led astray and helped them to recoup as much as possible and move on with their innovations as best as possible. Despite these efforts, reports of more innovators dealing with “snake oil salesmen” are seduced by get-rich-quick schemes. So, he decided he must do more.

 

John Wiley, an entrepreneur and multi-decade marketing, advertising, and business development veteran, was also looking to begin a new adventure. Disenfranchised from running his business and helping other companies, John wanted to partner with someone and use his expertise to build something purposeful and help others do the same. John searched and searched one day. He met Timothy at a business owners’ conference and became fast friends. After some time, Timothy shared with John his desire to ensure that the innovators have access to all the resources they need for success. Resonating with Timothy’s vision, John suggested, “Let’s do this!” and The Patent and Trademark Resource (TPTR) was born.

 

The Patent and Trademark Resource’s mission is to provide innovative businesses the resources they need to protect, promote, and profit from their ideas.
